Kent County Council's Family Hubs Programme sought to expand Baby Massage provision across the county while ensuring training remained sustainable, cost-effective and consistent across services.
Working in partnership with Hands on Babies, Kent implemented a phased workforce development model that included instructor training, conversion training and the development of a dedicated Train the Trainer team. The result was a scalable workforce solution that has trained and accredited almost 100 practitioners, increased local delivery capacity and secured ongoing funding through 2028.
This case study explores how a Train the Trainer approach enabled Kent to strengthen workforce capability, improve consistency and create a sustainable model for future growth.

Barnardo's ABC PiP (Attachment, Bonding and Communication Parent-Infant Partnership) was developed to strengthen parent-infant relationships, attachment, bonding and infant mental health during the critical first 1001 days of life.
Working in partnership with Hands on Babies, Barnardo's commissioned Baby Massage and Baby Yoga Instructor Training for 75 practitioners and partner organisations across Northern Ireland. Delivered through three face-to-face training cohorts, the programme equipped staff with practical, attachment-focused tools that could be used within groups, one-to-one support and tailored family interventions.
This case study explores how Baby Massage and Baby Yoga became an important part of a wider early intervention strategy, helping practitioners translate attachment theory into practical support that improved parent confidence, strengthened relationships and created lasting benefits for families.
Small Steps Big Changes was a ten-year National Lottery-funded programme supporting families across some of Nottingham's most disadvantaged communities. Working as the programme's sole Baby Massage training provider, Hands on Babies trained more than 300 Community Mentors, Family Support Workers and Health Professionals between 2013 and 2023.
By adapting its Baby Massage curriculum for a community-led workforce model, Hands on Babies helped create trusted peer-to-peer support networks that strengthened parent-infant relationships, increased parental confidence and improved engagement with local services. This case study explores how community-based workforce development can create lasting benefits for families and communities alike.

Kids Planet Day Nurseries has partnered with Hands on Babies since 2016 to develop specialist Baby Massage and Baby Yoga skills across its workforce. Through a combination of face-to-face and online training, more than 300 practitioners have gained accredited skills that support both family engagement and the day-to-day care of babies within nursery settings.
This case study explores how Kids Planet has used Baby Massage and Baby Yoga to strengthen workforce capability, enhance parent partnerships, support baby wellbeing and provide valuable CPD opportunities across one of the UK's leading nursery groups.
Since 2021, TEWV has partnered with Hands on Babies to strengthen attachment, bonding and parent-infant relationship support across its Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Teams. What began as Baby Massage and Baby Yoga workforce development evolved into one of the first NHS pilots of the Pregnancy Bonding Programme and an ongoing collaboration supporting the future development of Pregnancy BASICS.
This case study explores how co-production, workforce development and practical attachment-focused interventions have helped create an integrated approach to supporting families across the full 1001 days.

Enfield Family Hubs commissioned the Pregnancy Bonding Programme to address a gap in antenatal attachment and bonding support. By training multidisciplinary practitioners and introducing Pregnancy Bonding groups, the partnership has enabled families to begin building relationships with their babies before birth while helping Family Hub teams engage and support parents earlier in their parenting journey.
This case study explores how Enfield is using Pregnancy Bonding as the earliest intervention for attachment and how the programme is helping shape future integrated 1001 days support pathways.

Some are looking to train a single practitioner. Others are developing new Family Hub services, strengthening maternity pathways, embedding Start for Life priorities or creating sustainable Train the Trainer models across multiple teams and locations.
